Transfer from Ilhéus to Barra Grande & Taipu de Fora via Unpaved Road
Currently subject to limited availability due to road conditions.
This transfer departs from Ilhéus and follows the fully paved BA-001 highway to the Maraú junction, where it continues along the unpaved BR-030 road. Whether this route is available depends largely on the condition of the BR-030, which can vary significantly due to infrequent maintenance and changing weather conditions.
Barra Grande
The dirt-road route is only recommended when road conditions are good enough to make it worthwhile. When conditions are uncertain, traveling via Camamu and continuing by speedboat is usually the better option, as it is both faster and more comfortable.
Average travel time: 2 hours 40 minutes under good road conditions.

Taipu de Fora
Taipu de Fora is located just before Barra Grande. When road conditions are poor, we recommend traveling via Camamu and then taking a taxi or shared shuttle from Barra Grande to Taipu de Fora.

How does the private airport transfer work?
Our driver will meet you at the airport or pier holding a sign with your name. They will assist you with your luggage and any special needs. Upon arrival at your destination, the driver will also help carry your luggage to the reception of your accommodation or to the door of your house.
What is the best option: dirt road transfer in the Maraú Peninsula or transfer via Camamu first?
During poor weather conditions or when the dirt road is in bad shape, the best option is to travel from Ilhéus to Camamu via paved road, followed by a speedboat to Barra Grande. This option is generally more comfortable and faster than the dirt road route.
When road conditions in the peninsula are good, traveling directly via the dirt road is worthwhile, with an average travel time of around 2 hours and 40 minutes.
How does the speedboat crossing from Camamu to Barra Grande work?
Speedboats run hourly between Camamu and Barra Grande, starting at 6:00 AM on weekdays and 7:00 AM on weekends. The last departures are at 5:00 PM, with one or two additional boats sometimes waiting until around 5:30 PM.
The fare is R$40 per person, and children under 5 travel free. The crossing takes approximately 30 minutes on average.

How do I get from Barra Grande to Taipu de Fora?
1 – Shared shuttle ("Jardineira")
The “jardineira” is the traditional transport between Barra Grande and Taipu de Fora. It is an affordable and fun option, costing R$20 per person. Services operate only during the day and depart from in front of the Barra Grande pier. There is no fixed schedule — it leaves once full. The ride takes around 20 minutes to reach the Taipu de Fora natural pools, the final stop.
2 – Taxi
Taxis are available in front of the Barra Grande pier. A standard taxi costs between R$80 and R$100 depending on the destination and time of day. Travel time is approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
